Canadian Residents Entering the USA
1 litre of liquor (or 24 beer)
1 carton of cigarettes (or 1 200g tin of tobacco) and 50 cigars
- must be 18 years or older to purchase tobacco
- must be 21 years or older to take liquor into the US
- Canadians can bring purchased items back into Canada under a 48-hour exemption, Canadian regulations apply
Canadian Residents Returning from the USA to Canada
Following a minimum 24-hour stay in the US, exemption of Cdn $50.
Cannot include any tobacco or liquor
Following a 48-hour stay in the US, exemption of Cdn $400
including:
1.14 litres of liquor, or 1.5 litres of wine, or 24 beer
1 carton of cigarettes, and one 200g tin of tobacco, and 200 tobacco sticks, and 50 cigars
American Residents Returning to the USA
A daily exemption of US $200 including
50 cigarettes, and 10 cigars
150ml of liquor, or 150ml of perfume containing alcohol
Following a 48-hour stay in Canada, exemption of US $800
including:
1 litre of liquor (or 24 beer)
1 carton of cigarettes, or one 200g tin of tobacco, and 100 cigars
